हाल ही में आई.आई.टी छात्रों द्वारा चलाये जा रहे अम्बेडकर पेरियार स्टडी सर्किल पर आई.आई.टी मद्रास के प्रबंधन द्वारा लगाया गया प्रतिबन्ध विश्व के सबसे बड़े लोकतंत्र के मुंह पर तमाचा है। दिशा छात्र संगठन ने इस प्रतिबन्ध की कड़े शब्दों में भर्त्सना की है।
प्रधान मंत्री के खि़लाफ़ नफ़रत बढ़काने के कोशिश करने के आरोप में आई.आई.टी के प्रबंधन ने यह प्रतिबन्ध लगाया है। एक अज्ञात व्यक्ति द्वारा एम.एच.आर.डी को लिखी गयी एक चिट्ठी के बाद यह कदम उठाया गया है। अम्बेडकर पेरियार स्टडी सर्किल द्वारा वितरित किये गए जिस पर्चे का हवाला देते हुए यह बताया जा रहा है कि छात्रों का यह ग्रुप प्रधान मंत्री के खि़लाफ़ नफ़रत को हवा दे रहा है अगर एक बार उस पर्चे की विषय वस्तु पढ़ ली जाए तो उससे साफ हो जाएगा कि यह प्रतिबन्ध नफरत फैलाने के लिए नहीं बल्कि इस सरकार की आर्थिक-राजनितिक नीतियों के बारे में आलोचना करने के लिए लगाया गया है।
सबसे ज़रूरी और अहम बात यह है कि एक लोकतंत्र में आलोचना, वाद विवाद और अपनी बात कहने का हक़ सबको इस देश का संविधान देता है, तो फिर क्यों इतनी बेशर्मी के साथ उन विद्यार्थियों से यह हक़ छिना जा रहा है। सिर्फ इसिलए क्योंकि सरकार नहीं चाहती की देश की युवा पीढ़ी उनके द्वारा जारी किये फतवों (नीतियों) की आलोचना करे। यहीं है वह अच्छे दिन जिनका वादा कर यह पार्टी सत्ता में आई थी। वोल्टेयर ने बिलकुल ठीक कहा था कि यह जानने के लिए की तुम पर कौन राज करता इसका पता लगा लो की तुम किसकी आलोचना नहीं कर सकते। किस लिहाज़ से किसी सरकार की नीतियों के बारे में वाद विवाद करना या आलोचना करना उस सरकार के प्रधान मंत्री के खि़लाफ़ नफ़रत बढ़ाना है, यह तो केवल सत्ता में बैठे लोग ही समझ सकते हैं।
ऐसे प्रतिबन्ध एक तानाशाह द्वारा अपने खि़लाफ़ हर उस आवाज को चुप कराने की कोशिश है जो उनकी राजनीति पर सवाल खड़ा करती है। यह प्रतिबन्ध कोई पहला नहीं है। मोदी सरकार छात्रों और आम नागरिकों से उनके सांविधानिक हकों को किसी न किसी नाम पर छिनती रही है। अगर सरकार को नफ़रत फैलाने वालों से इतना परहेज़ है तो पहले वो साध्वी निरंजन ज्योति जैसे लोगों के खि़लाफ़ कोई कदम क्यों नहीं उठाती। भगवा ब्रिगेड जो कभी लव जिहाद, कभी गौ मांस पर प्रतिबन्ध, या घर वापसी की मुहीम के ज़रिये देश के लोगों के बीच नफ़रत के बीज बो रही है उनके खि़लाफ कोई कार्यवाही करने से क्यों कतराती हैं। क्यों वह आर.एस.एस जो अपनी शाखाओं में खुलेआम साम्प्रदायिक ज़हर उगलता है, उस पर प्रतिबन्ध नहीं लगाती।
बात साफ है ‘जो तुमको हो पसंद वही बात कहेंगे‘ की तर्ज पर यह सरकार अब देश की जनता और युवाओं को यह चेतावनी देना चाहती है कि अगर उनके खि़लाफ कुछ भी कहा तो अंजाम अच्छा नहीं होगा। इस सरकार का असली फ़ासीवादी चेहरा सामने आ रहा है। और फासीवाद का मुहतोड़ जवाब देने के लिए इस देश के सभी युवाओं को एक साथ मिलकर अपने अधिकारों के लिए लड़ना होगा। दिशा छात्र संगठन की वारुणी ने कहा ‘‘दिशा छात्र संगठन इस प्रतिबन्ध की कड़ी निंदा करता है और देश के तमाम न्यायप्रिय युवाओं से यह अपील करता है कि इस प्रतिबन्ध के खि़लाफ़ आवाज उठायें, क्योंकि साफ ज़ाहिर है कि यह सरकार तर्क और बहस से कितना डरती है। हमे अपने संवैधानिक हक़ों को इतनी आसानी से इन्हे कुचलने नहीं देंगे।‘‘

Ban on IIT madras student group : Death of democracy and dawn of the ‘aache din’
The recent ban by the authorities of IIT madras on the Ambedkar periyar study circle run by the students of IIT-madras is a slap in the face of the democratic values so ardently professed by the largest democracy in the world. Disha Student organization condemns the ban in the strongest words possible. The reason putforth by the authorities of IIT for the ban is that the group is using the platform to spread ‘hatred’ against the Prime Minister. This ban took place after an anonymous letter to MHRD claimed that the pamphlets being circulated by the student group incite hatred against the PM. But if one looks at the content of the pamphlets in question here it would become clear why the group was banned. It was not inciting hatred by inviting a healthy discussion on the policies being implemented by the Government. The right to dissent and criticism are an integral part of a democracy and in no way criticising a government’s policies tantamounts to spreading hatred. Such bans are a threat to the freedom of expression and the right to free speech. This is not the first incident where there has been ban on students group or students being arrested on similar grounds. The farcicial democracy that we live in will only provide you space to speak up untill you are not questioning what is right and what is wrong as voltaire had said to learn who rules over you simply find out whom you are not allowed to criticise. With the new regime in power with its hindutva agenda at spearhead there are too many holy cows that we are supposed to not talk about. The message being given to the youth of the rest of the country is that keep quiet or else you bear consequences. We the students of this country have every right to debate, discuss and dissent on matters of socio-political importance, taking away that very right from us is implementing a dictatorial regime. This government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that freedom of expression is curbed if the point being expressed is not to their liking. Why is the governmnet not taking any action against Sadvi Niranjan jyoti for inciting hatred, why is the government so tolerant against the Saffron brigades attempt to polarize the people of this country in the name of Ghar wapasi, beef ban, love jihad. Why is the government not banning the R.S.S which in its shakas openly spews the venom of communal hatred.These are the real issues that Government needs to be addresing rather than jumping around and telling people who are asking pertinent questions to keep silent. These are the ‘acche din’ that were promised to us. The real facsict character of this regime is coming out in the open and it is not long when the mask would slip. The rise of such facsist powers is resistible but we the students and youth have to join our hands and work towards a society where free speech is not threatened. These are the real issues that Government needs to be addresing rather than jumping around and telling people who are asking pertinent questions to keep silent.
