श्री बी. वी. मल्लिकार्जुनैया (कर्नाटक), इंडियन फेडरेशन ऑफ़ वर्किंग जर्नलिस्ट्स (आई.एफ.डब्ल्यू.जे.) के निर्विरोध नए अध्यक्ष चुने गए हैं। यह घोषणा आई. एफ. डब्ल्यू. जे. के मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी श्री संजय कुमार जैन ने नई दिल्ली स्थित आई.एफ.डब्ल्यू.जे. मुख्यालय में की। श्री मल्लिकार्जुनैया के नाम का प्रस्ताव एवं अनुमोदन कई राज्यों के 300 से अधिक सदस्यों ने किया। उनके अलावा किसी भी राज्य से किसी भी अन्य व्यक्ति का नामांकन दाखिल नहीं हुआ।
श्री मल्लिकार्जुनैया एक मंझे हुए पत्रकार नेता एवं अनुभवी पत्रकार हैं। वे वर्षों तक बेंगलुरु से प्रकाशित होने वाले कन्नड़ दैनिक ‘कन्नड़ प्रभा’ के समाचार संपादक रहे हैं। सम्प्रति वे ‘दैनिक उदयवाणी’ में सहायक संपादक के रूप में कार्यरत हैं। उन्होंने पत्रकारों के हितों के लिए अनेक संघर्ष किये हैं। वे भारत सरकार द्वारा केंद्रीय पत्रकार अधिमान्यता समिति के सदस्य भी रह चुके हैं। इसके पहले श्री मल्लिकार्जुनैया आई.एफ.डब्ल्यू.जे. के उपाध्यक्ष एवं ‘कर्नाटक यूनियन ऑफ़ वर्किंग जर्नलिस्ट्स’ (के.यू.डब्ल्यू.जे.) के दो बार अध्यक्ष भी रह चुके हैं।
अपने निर्वाचन के बाद श्री मल्लिकार्जुनैया ने बताया की वे ‘श्रमजीवी पत्रकार कानून’ में संशोधन ‘मीडिया कौंसिल’ की स्थापना एवं नए वेज बोर्ड की गठन के लिए संघर्ष तेज करेंगे। श्रमजीवी पत्रकार कानून में संशोधन के बारे में उन्होंने कहा कि वर्तमान कानून पत्रकारों के हितों की रक्षा करने में नाकाफी रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि इस कानून के तहत प्रिंट, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक और वैब के पत्रकारों को शामिल किया जाना अत्यंत आवश्यक हो गया है।
Shri B.V. Mallikarjunaiah of Karnataka has been elected unopposed as the President of the ‘Indian Federation of Working Journalists’ (IFWJ) for two years. His term will start from March 2017, when he assumes office in the delegates’ session. The Chief Returning Officer Shri Sanjay Kumar Jain declared his election result at the IFWJ Headquarters in New Delhi. His name was proposed and seconded by more than 300 members from many states. No other nomination was received from anywhere.
Veteran Trade Union Leader and a seasoned journalist Shri B.V. Mallikarjunaiah has been the News Editor of the ‘Kannada Prabha’, a leading Kannada Daily and presently he is working as the Assistant Editor in Udayavani Daily, being published from Bengaluru. He has been, besides being the Vice President of the IFWJ once, the President of the ‘Karnataka Union of Working Journalists’ (KUWJ) for two times. Widely travelled and well educated Shri Mallikarjunaiah is known for having worked ceaselessly for the cause of journalists. Shri Mallikarjunaiah is respected for his honesty, transparency and hard working.
On his election as the new IFWJ President, Shri Mallikarjunaiah has promised to work for the professional and economic betterment of the journalists. He has said that he will strive hard for the enactment of the Media Council, amendment in the Working Journalists Act and the constitution of new Wage Board for all media employees including those of electronic and web portals.
