रेलवे बोर्ड द्वारा लखनऊ स्थित एक्टिविस्ट डॉ नूतन ठाकुर को आरटीआई में दी गयी जानकारी के अनुसार शताब्दी, राजधानी तथा दुरंतो ट्रेनों में टिकट के साथ लिया जाने वाला कैटरिंग शुल्क यात्री के टिकट की श्रेणी के अनुसार अलग-अलग होता है.
प्रथम एसी तथा एग्जीक्यूटिव क्लास (ईसी) में सुबह की चाय की कीमत रु० 15 तथा अन्य श्रेणियों में रु० 10 है. सुबह का नाश्ता प्रथम एसी तथा ईसी में रु 90, द्वितीय तथा तृतीय एसी एवं एसी चेयरचार (सीसी) में रु० 70 तथा स्लीपर क्लास में रु० 40 में है.
दिन और रात का भोजन प्रथम एसी तथा ईसी में रु० 140, द्वितीय/तृतीय एसी एवं सीसी में रु० 120 तथा स्लीपर क्लास में रु० 75 में है. रात का खाना नहीं मिलने वाले ट्रेनों में प्रथम एसी तथा ईसी में शाम की चाय रु० 70 में तथा रात का खान मिलने पर रु० 45 में है जबकि द्वितीय तथा तृतीय एसी एवं सीसी में रु० 45 तथा स्लीपर क्लास में रु० 20 में है. आरटीआई सूचना के अनुसार नए दर 09 अप्रैल 2018 से लागू हैं.

The RTI information provided by Railway Board to Lucknow based activist Dr Nutan Thakur makes it clear that catering charges in Shatabdi, Rajdhani and Duranto trains, which are part of train ticket, vary with passenger class.
For morning tea, the rate is Rs. 15 for First AC and Executive Class (EC) while it is Rs. 10 for all other classes. Breakfast is Rs. 90 for AC and EC, Rs. 70 for Second and third AC and AC Chair car (CC) and Rs. 40 for Sleeper Class.
Similarly Lunch and Dinner is Rs. 140 for First AC and EC, Rs. 120 for Second/third AC and CC and Rs. 75 for Sleeper Class. For First AC and EC, evening tea costs Rs. 70 where dinner is not served or Rs. 45 where dinner is served while it costs Rs. 45 for Second/third AC and CC and Rs. 20 for Sleeper Class. As per the RTI information, the new rates were enforced from 09 April 2018.
