New Delhi, 13 August 2015: Doordarshan National takes yet another step towards alleviating and improving its content, in terms of fresh and quality shows. In keeping with its promise to bring in new shows, across different genres, DD National has a bouquet of prime time shows scheduled to telecast from this Independence Day. Smt. Deepa Chandra, ADG (DD National) said- “Our aim behind the launch of fresh programming is to attain a renewed and appealing look. We this time in our prime time band are not just focused on women oriented programmes, but are also bringing forth shows of different genres in three phases to allure masses.”
Starting with a period drama, that begins the advent of new programming with a clarion of change is the story of independence struggle about a path breaking newspaper Ranbheri that not only played a significant role in the freedom struggle in the 1940s but had also joined the different voices of the freedom fighters who were slowly and stealthily working towards the overthrow of the tyrannical British Rule. The one hour show, scheduled for 15th August at 8:00 pm, Saturday& Sunday, tries not only to tell the unheard story of unsung heroes of our freedom struggle, but also shows how media had played a major role during the independence struggle in India.
Starting from August 16, DD National has scheduled a chat show Koshish Se Qamyabi Tak at 10:30 am, to be telecast every Sunday, anchored by veteran Kiran Juneja. She would take the viewers through a journey through the lives of cine stars, from their struggles to their successes. The stories would feature notable faces from the Bollywood industry like Madhur Bhandarkar, Parineeti Chopra, Ayushman Khurana and many more.
This is followed by Dil Ko Aaj Fir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai from August 17 at 9:00 pm, Monday-Friday, a soft, sentimental and tasteful love story of a small town girl from Patiala and a city bred boy who are conjoined through a musical reality show, where the girl’s dreams intertwine with the ambitions of the boy, and thus unfolds their journey of love through many twists and turns.
Beti Ka Farz is a story of a married daughter who is an ideal ‘daughter in law’ ……till she decides to fulfill her duty and responsibility as a ‘daughter’ of her ailing and needy parents. Thus starts, the never ending struggle and trial of this daughter in law. The show asks many pertinent questions about the rights of a ‘ daughter’ who wishes to help and care for her parents just like any other son even after she gets married and goes to her husband’s home. Unique, unconventional and dramatic, these are the adjectives that can describe the daily soap starting on DD National from Aug 24 at 10:00 pm, Monday-Thursday.
Dynamic Annu Kappor brings to Doordarshan National his ‘ slice of life’ story of people over forty, tracing their angst, frustrations, emotions, ambitions, dreams and struggles. The show takes the viewers through the experiences of a few such men, that are ‘ realistic’ and ‘ heart touching’ so much so that, every person in the audience would relate to their emotions portrayed in this daily show called 40 Plus, beginning from Aug 31st at 8:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Thus the month ends by launching yet another daily soap, which though fails to adhere to the stereotypical characteristics of a daily soap, yet is much more endearing, touching, progressive and dramatic. Thus August 2015 is all set to bring a potpourri of dramas tracing a gamut of emotions.
