Delhi Union of Journalists has expressed its deep shock at the passing away of its veteran member and senior journalist. writer Mr. Devendra Upadhyay. He was 70. He died of massive heart attack late last night (13th Nov. 2016 in Private Hospital, New Delhi).
He was also actively associated with the number of demonstrations and movements of journalists and writers. His passing away is irreparable loss to DUJ and the other organisations he was associated for long time. He was a sitting national council member of the DUJ and leader of the journalist movement for several years.
Shri. Upadhyay belongs to a freedom fighter family. His father late Ragubar Datt Upadhyay was among the leading freedom fighter of Uttar Pradesh/Uttarakhand.
He served many years as National Chief of Bureau of leading Hindi Daily Deshbandhu. Before that he also worked in many other leading Hindi dailies like Janyug and Amrit Prabhat.
Born in Khumad village, District of Almora. Sri Upadhyay was also associated with Uttarakhand Patrakar Parishad as its President for the last many years. DUJ expresses its deepest and heartfelt condolences to the close family members, friends and well wishers.
