फेक न्यूज फैलाने के आरोपों से घिरे वरिष्ठ पत्रकार राजदीप सरदेसाई एक बार फिर विवादों में हैं। इस बार एक भाजपा पार्षद के खिलाफ भ्रष्टाचार के झूठे आरोप प्रसारित करने का मामला है, जिसके बाद उन्हें सार्वजनिक रूप से माफी मांगनी पड़ी। मामला अदालत तक पहुंचने के बाद सरदेसाई को अपनी गलती स्वीकार करनी पड़ी।
यह पहली बार नहीं है जब इंडिया टुडे ग्रुप के इस एंकर को झूठी खबर के लिए झुकना पड़ा हो। जनवरी 2020 में भी राजदीप ने एक आईपीएस अधिकारी को सोहराबुद्दीन एनकाउंटर केस में झूठा फंसाने पर बिना शर्त माफी मांगी थी।
कृषि कानून विरोध प्रदर्शन के दौरान भी उन्होंने एक किसान की मौत को पुलिस फायरिंग से जोड़कर गलत जानकारी फैलाई थी। तब चैनल ने उन्हें ऑफ-एयर कर दिया था और एक महीने का वेतन रोका था।
लगातार गलत रिपोर्टिंग और माफियों के बावजूद राजदीप सरदेसाई अब भी इंडिया टुडे के प्राइमटाइम चेहरे बने हुए हैं। सवाल उठ रहा है कि क्या बार-बार ऐसी गलतियों के बाद भी चैनल की विश्वसनीयता पर कोई असर नहीं पड़ता?

Fake news peddler Rajdeep Sardesai and primetime face of India Today quietly slipped out a “cute” apology to Mr. Ajit Singh Tokas, former BJP Councillor from Munirka Ward, for the social and political reputational harm caused by his fabricated program.
He posted it quietly on Instagram, hoping no one would notice.
Well, I think a lot more people deserve to see his smug face tarnished.
Serial fake news peddler Rajdeep Sardesai has once again been forced to tender a public apology — this time for airing malicious allegations of corruption against a BJP Councillor. Dragged to court, he had to eat humble pie.
This isn’t new. In January 2020, Rajdeep Sardesai issued an unconditional apology to an IPS officer for reporting and broadcasting fabricated news that wrongly named the officer in the Sohrabuddin encounter case.
More recently, he spread fake news claiming that a protesting farmer was shot dead by police in Delhi — another blatant lie, for which he was taken off air and docked a month’s salary.
Yet, despite his long record of misinformation, he continues to be the primetime face of India Today.
What does that say about the credibility of news at 9 pm on the channel?
