Senior Journalists murdered in Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu

NUJ(I) welcome the Suo-moto cognizance of Press Council of India, Proper compensation to journalists and demand for judicial inquiry

New Delhi, December 16, 2020. The National Union of Journalists (India) affiliated to the International Federation of Journalists(IFJ) has strongly condemned the gruesome murders of two journalists in Madhya Pradesh and Tamilnadu. In two separate incidents, two senior journalists were murdered.

NUJI President Ras Bihari and Anand Rana Member Press Council of India welcomed the PCI suo moto cognizance of incidents and directed the Chief Secretary, Secretary Home and DGP police of the respective state to submit the reports on the facts of the cases at the earliest. They said that there has been a lot of resentment in the media struggle over murders of journalists. The sought to release an adequate compensation to journalists and a fast track court shall be constituted to give justice to departed souls.
