Supreme Court Recalls Arrest Warrant of Uttarkhand Labour Commissioner

The Supreme Court of India yesterday recalled its order of bailable warrant against the Labour Commissioner of Uttarakhand, Dr. Anand Srivastava. In an application filed in Contempt Petition (C) No. 411/2014 before the Supreme Court Dr. Srivastava tendered an unqualified apology for his unintentional mistake of non-appearance on the last date of hearing i.e. 22nd August 2016.

The Supreme Court of India yesterday recalled its order of bailable warrant against the Labour Commissioner of Uttarakhand, Dr. Anand Srivastava. In an application filed in Contempt Petition (C) No. 411/2014 before the Supreme Court Dr. Srivastava tendered an unqualified apology for his unintentional mistake of non-appearance on the last date of hearing i.e. 22nd August 2016.

The Bench of Justices Ranjan Gogoi and P.C. Pant adopted the ‘humane approach of Justice’ and recalled its order by directing the Labour Commissioner to be present on the coming date of hearing, which is fixed on 4th October 2016.

The Counsel for the petitioner Ms. Rachana Srivastava told the Court that the Labour Commissioner was personally present in the court room and she promised that he would be, without fail, available on the next date.
