नई दिल्ली, 5 सितंबर, 2015. रैमन मैग्सैसे अवार्ड विजेता और गूंज के संस्थापक अंशु गुप्ता का आईआईएमसी में सम्मान किया गया. श्री गुप्ता आईआईएमसी के एलुम्नाई हैं और समारोह का आयोजन आईआईएमसी एलुम्नाई एसोसिएशन ने किया था. सम्मान समारोह में आईआईएमसी की सहपाठी और पत्नी मीनाक्षी गुप्ता के साथ पहुंचे श्री गुप्ता को आईआईएमसी के महानिदेशक सुनीत टंडन, एलुम्नाई एसोसिएशन की अध्यक्ष सुनीला धर और संस्थान की शिक्षिका प्रो. जयश्री जेठवानी ने सम्मानित किया.
इस मौके पर श्री गुप्ता ने कहा कि हमें समाज के लिए कुछ करना चाहिए और समाज को बेहतर बनाने के रास्ते तलाशने चाहिए. उन्होंने कहा कि स्कूल सरकारी हो या प्राइवेट, हर आदमी सरकारी पैसे से पढ़ा है इसलिए उसे समाज को लौटाना चाहिए. श्री गुप्ता ने कहा कि जब भी वो रात में सोते हैं तो इस कर्ज के साथ सोते हैं कि उनकी पढ़ाई पर आम लोगों का पैसा सब्सिडी के रूप में खर्च हुआ है जिसे समाज के लिए कुछ करके उन्हें चुकाना है. आईआईएमसी के महानिदेशक सुनीत टंडन ने कहा कि हमें गर्व है कि हमारे यहां से ऐसे एलुम्नाई निकले हैं जो सिर्फ पैसे या पद के पीछे नहीं भाग रहे हैं. उन्होंने अंशु गुप्ता और गूंज को बधाई दी. एसोसिएशन की अध्यक्ष सुनीला धर ने कहा कि अंशु जैसे लोग किसी संस्थान या देश के नहीं होते बल्कि ऐसे लोग दरअसल पूरी मानव जाति के होते हैं. इस मौके पर श्री गुप्ता के आईआईएमसी के सहपाठी रहे इंडियन एक्सप्रेस के संपादक उन्नी राजन शंकर, बीबीसी हिन्दी के संपादक निधिश त्यागी, हिन्दुस्तान कोका कोला के एवीपी कल्याण रंजन ने श्री गुप्ता के साथ के अनुभव सुनाए और भरोसा जताया कि अंशु आगे और बेहतर काम करेंगे.
Magsaysay Award Winner Anshu Gupta felicitated by IIMC Alumni Association
New Delhi, 5th September 2015: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication Alumni Association today felicitated its distinguished alumni & Goonj Founder Mr. Anshu Gupta for receiving the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award 2015. Mr. Gupta was at his first media interaction after returning from Phillipines with the award. On the occasion, Mr. Gupta urged the audience to give back, and stand up for the right issues. He said, “It’s a really great feeling for both of us to be honoured by the IIMC Alumni Association. I must say that I had my best days here and learnt many new lessons of life here.”
He further added, we get subsidies for education, health and what not, hence when I wake up in the morning, I feel the need to repay and look for ways to do something in that direction. Anshu urged the youth to look for ways to do something for society. Mr. Gupta and Mrs. Meenakshi Gupta were felicitated by IIMC DG Mr. Sunit Tandon, IIMCAA President Ms. Sunila Dhar and Senior Most Faculty Ms. Jaishri Jethwaney.
IIMC DG Mr. Tandon said: “It’s a great honour to have alumni like Mr. Anshu who have carved a new path- of giving instead of just running after wealth. He congratulated Anshu for the award and hoped that Goonj will be the frontrunner as always in the endevour to make a positive difference to society.
IIMCAA President Ms. Dhar said, “People like Anshu don’t belong to any particular institute, any country, they belong to mankind and we are honoured that they are part of this illustrious institute.’
Mr. Gupta’s batch-mates Indian Express Editor Mr. Unni Rajen Shankar, BBC Hindi Editor Mr. Nidheesh Tyagi, Hindustan Coca-Cola AVP Mr. Kalyan Ranjan recounted their experiences with Anshu at IIMC and later in life. Mr. Gupta, fondly known as the clothing man of India, left his corporate stint as a media person in 1998 and started a non-profit ‘GOONJ’ with the prime support of his wife Meenakshi. He has successfully made the mostly passive urban and rural masses a prime stakeholder in creating a pipeline to generate resources and creating employment.
