Union Bank refuses BSP post-demonetization deposit Info
The Union Bank of India has refused to provide documents related with money deposited by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Union Bank of India, Karol Bagh branch, after demonetization notification on 08 November 2016. To the RTI query sought by activist Dr Nutan Thakur, CPIO of the Bank said that the information sought is covered under commercial confidence, which has no relation to public activity or interest. She has appealed against this refusal, saying that the BSP is no commercial entity but a registered political party. Hence its actions cannot be termed as commercial transactions, but involve large scale public interest. BSP had deposited Rs. 104 crores cash money in old currency after 08 November.
