मातूब जुबां ठहरी, ग़द्दार ज़ुबाह ठहरी”

”जिस अहद-इ- सियासत ने यह ज़िंदा जुबां कुचली
उस अहद-इ-सियासत को मेहरूमों का ग़म क्यों है?
ग़ालिब जिसे कहते हैं उर्दू का ही शायर था
उर्दू पर सितम ढा कर ग़ालिब पर करम क्यों है?”

In the cities where Ghalib’s voice thundered for years
In those cities now Urdu is now unknown and without a trace
On the day the announcement of the completion of Independence was made ( i.e.1947 )
On that day Urdu became a degraded language, a language of traitors

(nava means voice, benaam-o-nishaan means unknown and without a trace, kaamil means completion, maatoob means degraded, thehri means became, ghaddar means traitor)

Jis ahad-e-siyasat ne yeh zinda zubaan kuchli
Us ahad-e-siyasat ko mehroomon ka gham kyun hai ?
Ghalib jise kehte hain Urdu hi ka shayer tha
Urdu par sitam dhaa kar, Ghalib par karam kyun hai ? “

The age of politics which crushed this living language
Why does it mourn for the dead ?
He who is called Ghalib was a poet of Urdu
After committing atrocities on Urdu, why do people have generosity for Ghalib?

(ahad means age or era, siyasat means politics, zinda means living, kuchli means crushed, mehroomon means the deceased, shayar means poet, sitam means atrocity, karam means generosity or benevolence)

    This great Indian language has met the fat of an Indian girl. Shunted out from ” babul” deprived of the home comforts of ” maikay “. Pakistan has its four languages in its four provinces and the predominent population of those provinces speak and communicate in their respective mother tongues. Urdu is a MOHAHIR lanuage their and shall remain so for ever. If Justoce Katju’s formula of any type of indo-pak union takes place the greatest beneficiary will be Urdu. I hope Mr. Katju sees that day dawnining on us.

    I really feel bad for Urdu. It’s such a beautiful language for expression. Young kids are not even interested. It’s not taught in schools. Future looks bleak. I wish parents educate kids themselves about the language to pass on to next gen

    sir koshish musalsal jaari rakhiye beshak rang laayegi humari fak-e-masti , hum phir se ek baar urdu ko uska haq zuroor dilaayenge zamaana kitna bhi dushaman bane ya mukhalfat kare vo urdu ko uske huqooq se mehroom nahi rakh sakta , harqiz nahi ,
    halaaki urdu or hindi dono hi ek zabaan thi lekin 1857 ke baad aangrezon ne phoot daali uski vajah se jo zabaan ab tak hindustani kehlaati thi vo persianised ho to urdu or sanskritized ho to hindi kehlaane lagi , jabki asal me inme zyaada farq nahi hai hum hindi me bhi aksar kai urdu ke alfaaz istemaal karte hai or urdu me bhi kai hindi ke istemaal hote hai ya kahe to hindi me persian or urdu me sanskrit , dara shikoh ne apni kitab me zikra kiya hai ki kuchh hindu doston ne mujhe hindi me khat likhe halaaki vo khat dekhe jaayen to asal me likhe sirf vo devnagri me the lekin asal me vo us zabaan me likhe hai jise aaj urdu kehte hai

    During my stay in the GULF, I have suggested to my Pakistan Friends there that only benefit for me of Pakistan is that URDU has been patronised and made Official language, Allowing the URDU language to flourish, publish literature at official level and promote all activities including IT related work in URDU. In India, there is no support from government. Sikh, Hindu and Christians were reading Granth Saheb, Ramayana, Gita and Bible in Urdu script until 1950s. As Urdu has Arabic script, it is known as foreign language – SHAME. Many speak URDU but call it as if they are speaking the national language.
