पश्चिम बंगाल के धुलागढ़ में सांप्रदायिक हिंसा की गैर-जिम्मेदाराना रिपोर्टिंग से नाराज मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने जी न्यूज के संपादक सुधीर चौधरी, रिपोर्टर पूजा मेहता और कैमरामैन तन्मय मुखर्जी के खिलाफ FIR दर्ज करा दिया है. मुकदमा 153(A) जैसी गैर जमानती धाराओं में लिखा गया है. सुधीर चौधरी ने एफबी पर अपनी प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए कहा है- ”मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी मीडिया के दमन की कोशिश कर रही है, वो लोकतंत्र के लिए बड़ा खतरा हैं. आगे से कोई भी मीडिया हाउस दंगों की कवरेज करने से बचेगा. ये पत्रकारिता पर अंकुश लगाने की साजिश है.”
पश्चिम बंगाल के संकराइल थाना क्षेत्र स्थित धुलागढ़ इलाके में दो गुटों के बीच हिंसा हुई. एक धार्मिक जुलूस के रास्ते को लेकर दंगा हुआ था. अगले दिन एक समुदाय के उपद्रवियों ने धुलागढ़ के बनर्जी पाड़ा, दावनघाटा, नाथपाड़ा में दूसरे समुदाय के मकानों और दुकानों में तोड़फोड़ कर आग लगा दिया. हिंसा के दौरान अराजक तत्वों ने जमकर बमबारी की. उपद्रवियों की भीड़ ने दुकानों के साथ-साथ कई घरों में भी लूटपाट की. कई घरों और दुकानों को आग के हवाले भी कर दिया. इससे पूरे इलाके में दहशत है.

Pooja Mehta is just 25 and got the taste of Mamta’s intolerance so early in life in the form of a non bailable FIR.This is what a young girl reporter getting to learn from a woman chief minister who claims to be the champion of democracy.It’s another low point in our democracy to see a democratically elected govt using police force to curb media in an effort to suppress uncomfortable facts and reality.When you can’t manage media,use the state machinery to conquer the media only to conceal the failures of your administration. It shows the intolerance of a chief minister who is using the state machinery as her personal fiefdom and acting like a feudal lord. I see the positive side of this blunder as a window for all free minds of this nation to act and show fascist forces their actual place. Or once again Selfish Politics will prevail? This is really unfortunate and shows the real face of the so called Pro-democratic people in this country. On the issue of demonetization Mamta Bannerji has talked about people and ‘ democratic ‘ Ethics and values but this single incident shows that how undemocratic she is.
This is the unfortunate story of West Bengal that whosoever comes to power becomes autocratic.
Mamta di must remember, how the then left desperation tried it’s best to crush her voice when she used to raise the voice of downtrodden.
She must withdraw the case immediately and order a fair enquiry into the case and also its reporting aswell.
But the enquiry into the reporting aspects of the news story can be done only by Press Council of India and not by a police wala.
