ABP News-CVoter opinion poll predicts a comfortable victory for BJP in UP with Yogi Adityanath being the most popular CM face

The poll predicts that Punjab is headed towards a hung house with AAP having an edge over the others

Noida, 9th October 2021: The ABP News-CVoter (Centre for Voting Opinion & Trends in Election Research) October 2021 opinion poll predicts comfortable victory for BJP in U.P Uttarakhand and Goa. Whereas it’s a close fight in Punjab and Manipur with AAP leading in Punjab and BJP leading in Manipur.

As per the ABP News- C Voter Opinion Poll, Yogi Adityanath continues to remain the preferred choice for Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh with BJP predicted to win 241 to 249 seats. Delhi’s CM Arvind Kejriwal is leading the popularity charts in Punjab with his party AAP predicted to win 49 to 55 seats. Interestingly, in Uttarakhand, Congress’ Harish Rawat has strengthened his popularity for the CM post but it is the BJP which is predicted to retain the state by winning 42 to 46 seats. Pramod Sawant of the BJP remains the preferred choice for Chief Minister in Goa and, as per the polls, the party is set to come back to power and likely to win between 24 to 28 seats.

The political atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh has soared in the recent days with the opposition going all- guns blazing against the ruling BJP to reach out to the voters. Punjab’s political landscape has also witnessed a lot of twists and turns in the past month with Charanjit Singh Channi replacing Captain Amarinder Singh as the state’s CM. However, the infighting within the Congress has left the door open for AAP and others to make a charge for power in the state.

As per the ABP- CVOTER opinion poll, BJP is leading in Uttar Pradesh with 41.3% vote share (241 to 249 seats), whereas Samajwadi Party is second with 32.4% vote share (130 to 138 Seats). BSP is third with 14.7% vote share (15 to 19 seats).

As per the ABP- CVOTER opinion poll, in Punjab, Aam Admi Party is leading with 35.9% vote share (49 to 55 seats), whereas INC is second with 31.8% vote share (39 to 47 seats). Shiromani Akali Dal is third with 22.5% vote share (17 to 25 seats).

As per the ABP- CVOTER opinion poll, in Uttarakhand, BJP is leading with 44.6% vote share (42 to 46 seats), whereas INC is second with 34% vote share (21 to 25 Seats). AAP is third with 14.7% vote share (0 to 4 seats).

As per the ABP- CVOTER opinion poll, in Manipur, BJP is leading with 35.6% vote share (26 to 30 seats), whereas INC is second with 34.5% vote share (21 to 25 Seats). Others are at the third spot with 21.3% vote share (1 to 5 seats).

As per the ABP- CVOTER opinion poll, in Goa, BJP is leading with 37.5% vote share (24 to 28 seats), followed by AAP with 22.8% vote share (3 to 7 Seats).

Current projections are based on CVOTER daily tracking poll conducted from 4th September 2021 to 4th October 2021, among 18+ adults, including likely voters.

As for the methodology and survey details, the survey reached out to a total of approximately 98,000+ across 5 states (UP, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa) and was conducted through CATI (Telephonic survey). The same is also expected to have a margin of error of ±3 to ±5% and may not necessarily have factored in all criteria.

ABP News-CVoter has also conducted a snap poll on pertinent questions affecting the political landscape in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

In Uttar Pradesh, when asked about if BJP will face the consequences of farmers’ resentment, 66.3% voted yes. Further, when asked if the farmers’ movement will impact the elections in Uttar Pradesh, 52.5% again answered yes. On the issue of Yogi Government’s handling of the corona pandemic 60.6% respondents were dissatisfied with the government’s response.

In Punjab, responding to Congress’ decision of changing the CM right before the elections, majority of the people (59.4%) approved of this decision. A majority (54%) of voters in Punjab believe that making a Dalit leader (Channi), the CM of Punjab will turn out to be a masterstroke by the Congress. However, because of the issue of infighting within the Congress, 42.1% of respondents believe that AAP will reap the benefits.
