GUWAHATI : The Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) has expressed serious concern over the telephonic harassment and even threats to a Guwahati-based television reporter-cum-anchor by miscreants. It has been understood that some persons used to call the lady journalist with abusive languages which prompted her to lodge an FIR in Paltan Bazar police station. The police has reportedly tracked and arrested a few individuals from Guwahati and Kolkata suspecting their roles in the case.
The journalist has also communicated the Assam Police chief Khagen Sarma, wherein the DGP assured her all necessary support. The EMFA, while condemning the mentality of the criminals involved in harassing a lady journalist, has urged the authority to take appropriate and timely actions in this regard. The television media forum has also appealed to the State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, also in charge of Home portfolio, to take personal interest to resolve the matter at the earliest.
