Job Description

Express Audio (IE Online Media Ltd.) is seeking a producer/host to write, produce, and host their daily/weekly and upcoming podcasts. This person will work in collaboration with journalists and other producers to create audio stories/episodes by creatively thinking about how to best use audio bits, music, and ambient sound. This person will have to exercise strong editorial judgment and experience to produce great quality narrative audio journalism.

The producer/host must have the ability to creatively shape the ideas proposed by editors while adhering to the editorial standards of The Indian Express.

This includes great interview/hosting skills with a bent on creating content for our choice listenership.

Responsibilities

• Produce journalistically great sound-rich daily podcasts.

• Give explicit instructions for editing, mix, and score of the podcast (show opens, montages, etc)

• Understanding the news and an ability to present information in a simple way by interviewing journalists/newsmakers

• Podcast scripting and planning

Qualifications/Requirements

• Graduate in Mass Communication

• 1-2 years of experience in producing multimedia content for a news media house

Preferred

• An interest in podcasts and news

• Technical expertise in ProTools or any DAW of choice

• Ability to work in a fast-paced newsroom and adjust to breaking news and scheduling demands

• Organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to quickly, calmly, and creatively troubleshoot complex issues under pressure

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on projects to completion

• Excellent attention to detail, with good organization and time management skills

• Collaborative attitude and strong communication skills.
