आईबीएन7 में एसोसिएट एडिटर रहे पंकज श्रीवास्तव वर्षों से इस चैनल में काम करते हुए चुप रहे. सैकड़ों लोग निकाले गए. चुप रहे. कई बार फिल्म सिटी में जुलूस निकले. चुप रहे. फिल्म सिटी में लोग अपने हक के लिए लड़ रहे, न्यूज रूम में कब्जा करके. चुप रहे. दर्जनों कार्यक्रमों, सेमिनारों, संगोष्ठियों में बुलाया गया. चुप रहे. पर जब छंटनी की लाठी उनके सिर पर पड़ने ही वाली थी कि बोल पड़े. यूं ही नहीं, अचानक नहीं, प्लानिंग के साथ बोल पड़े. समझदार क्रांतिकारी प्लानिंग के साथ बोलता है, या फिर लगातार चुप रहता है. लाभ जिस तरीके से मिलता हो लो, ये फंडा होता है ऐसे क्रांतिकारियों का.
पंकज को अचानक आईबीएन7 में अंबानी का राज दिख पड़ा. पंकज को अचानक आईबीएन7 में केजरीवाल के प्रति अन्याय होता दिख पड़ा. ये सब इसलिए कि उनके सिर पर छंटनी की तलवार लटकी थी, नाकारापन और अकर्मण्यता की वजह से. सो, इन पंकज ने पहले ‘आप’ नेता आशुतोष से संपर्क साधा, जो आईबीएन7 के मैनेजिंग एडिटर रह चुके हैं और इन्हीं के जमाने में पंकज श्रीवास्तव भर्ती किए गए थे आईबीएन7 में. आशुतोष से लंबी डिसकशन के बाद एक प्लाट, एक स्टोरी, एक ड्रामा तैयार हुआ. और, एक रोज उस पर अमल कर दिया गया.
पंकज ने अपने बॉस सुमित अवस्थी को एसएमएस किया.
केजरीवाल के प्रति खबरों में अन्याय हो रहा है.
बॉस ने एचआर को कहा और एचआर ने बर्खास्तगी का लेटर थोड़ा समय से पहले ही पकड़ा दिया.
पंकज ने सोशल मीडिया का दामन थामा और बर्खास्तगी को शहादत में तब्दील करने के लिए शब्द वाण छोड़े.
‘आप’ के नेट वीरों ने धड़ाधड़ शेयर लाइक रीट्वीट किए. बात फैलने लगी.
पंकज ने अन्याय के खिलाफ और सरोकार के पक्ष में प्रेस कांफ्रेंस करने का ऐलान किया.
प्रेस कांफ्रेंस को ‘आप’ वालों ने कुछ यूं अदृश्य तरीके से मैनेज किया कि मीडिया जुट गई.
पंकज ने भाषण दिया. मीडिया वाले सुनते रहे.
और अंत में, पंकज एंड ‘हिडेन टीम’ ने सुगठित-सुव्यवस्थित क्रांतिकारी प्रेस रिलीज जारी की है.

New Delhi : IBN7 Associated Editor Pankaj Srivastava Sacked For Raising Voice Against Bias in Delhi Election Coverage. Will challenge termination in court, says Pankaj. 22, January, 2015, New Delhi: In a sudden, unprovoked and illegal move the management of IBN7 the Hindi News Channel owned by Network 18 has terminated the services of Associate Editor, Pankaj Srivastava on 21 January, 2015. The termination notice was abruptly served to Pankaj by Deputy General Manager, HR, Mayank Bhatnagar at 10 PM last night. The notice mentions that “services are hereby terminated with immediate effect”.
This termination was followed after a text message by Pankaj to Deputy Managing Editor Sumit Awasthi. The message stated —“ Aiysa lagata hai ki hum AAP ko harwaney mein jute hain yeh theek nahi hai, logo ka kehna hai ki Satish Uppdhyay ke bhai Umesh hamarey editor hain isliye aisa hai..ye patrakaron ke usoolon ke khilaaf hai, Pankaj Srivastava” (It seems that we have joined campaign to defeat AAP, this is unfair. Many people believe that this is happening because Umesh our Editor is brother of Satish Upadhyay. This goes against journalistic principles, Pankaj Srivastava). This mobile text message was sent by Pankaj at 8:48 from his official mobile number.
Pankaj has been raising the issue of unfair and unequal coverage of Delhi Assemble Elections. He has on number of occasions approached editors and tried to persuade that the practice of complete black out of Aam Admi Party is unethical and goes against established norms of journalistic propriety. Majority of journalists working with IBN 7 and CNN-IBN are not comfortable with internal censorship on many issues – particularly relating to Aam Admi Party and its convenor Arvind Kejriwal who is also Chief Ministerial candidate of the party. These issues were raised number of times during editorial meetings.
A series of programmes like “Kiran Ka Karsihma” to highlight the BJP’s CM Candidate are being telecast in the channel are debated and criticised internally.
Reacting of his abrupt termination Pankaj says,” Considering the fact that Network 18 is one of the biggest media network in world’s biggest democracy it is a serious concern that journalistic ethics are blatantly compromised.”
Known for his stand on social issues and standing for what is right, Pankaj is all set take the issue a step ahead. He is taking legal advice and within due course of time, he will challenge his unfair and uncalled termination in the court of law.
A brief profile of Dr Pankaj Srivastava— Pankaj started his journalistic journey in 1997 as a trainee reporter with Amar Ujala in Kanpur. He was later transferred to the state bureau at Lucknow. He joined Star News in January, 2003Later on he handled a senior profile of bureau-incharge of UP for Star News. In 2007 he moved to Delhi and was member of the core team which launched “Samay” channel. After a brief stint with Samay, Pankaj joined IBN7 on March 10th2008. As far academic qualification is concerned he is D-Phil in History from prestigious Allahabad University.
