हीरा के बजाय ऑक्सीजन को प्राथमिकता दे मोदी सरकार, सोशल मीडिया पर दिन भर चली जंगल बचाने की गुहार

क्लाइमेट एजेंडा की पहल को मिला 15 राज्यों से युवाओं का समर्थन, बक्स्वाहा जंगल के लिए दिखी देशव्यापी एकजुटता

पर्यावरण संरक्षण के लिए कार्यरत संस्था क्लाइमेट एजेंडा ने दिनांक 5 जून 2021 को देश भर के युवाओं को एकजुट करते हुए बक्स्वाहा के जंगल को बचाने के लिए भारी समर्थन इकट्ठा किया. वन एवं पर्यावरण मंत्रालय भारत सरकार और मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्य मंत्री कार्यालय को संबोधित पत्र में देश भर से 15 राज्यों में चल रहे 96 विश्वविद्यालयों में पढने वाले युवाओं व शिक्षकों ने अपना समर्थन दर्ज किया है. बक्स्वाहा जंगल को बचाने के गुहार के साथ लिखे गए इस पत्र को क्लाइमेट एजेंडा द्वारा सम्बंधित कार्यालयों को भेज दिया गया. साथ ही, कूल 54 हज़ार से अधिक लोगों ने ट्वीट कर सरकार को बक्स्वाहा जंगल बचाने के लिए परियोजना को रोकने का आग्रह भी किया.

ज्ञात हो कि मध्य प्रदेश के छतरपुर जिले में स्थित बक्स्वाहा एक सघन वन है. इसे सरकार द्वारा आदित्य बिरला समूह को हस्तांतरित क्र दिया गया है, ताकि हीरे का खनन हो सके. हीरे निकालने के लिए पेड़ काटने से पर्यावरण को भारी नुकसान होना तय है। सरकारी आंकड़ों के अनुसार 2.15 लाख पेड़ काटे जाएंगे, जबकि वास्तविकता में यह संख्या और भी अधिक हो सकती है। वर्तमान में वनाच्छादित कूल 383 हेक्टेयर वन भूमि बंजर हो जाएगी, और कई रिपोर्ट्स के अनुसार, हीरा परियोजना के लिए कूल 1 करोड़ 60 लाख लीटर पानी का व्यय रोजाना होना है. ऐसे में, पहले से सूखाग्रस्त बुंदेलखंड क्षेत्र पर इस हीरा परियोजना से जो विपदा आनी है, वो फिलहाल किसी गणना या अनुमान से भी परे है.

अभियान के अगले चरण के बारे में क्लाइमेट एजेंडा की ओर से एकता शेखर ने बताया कि कोविड प्रोटोकाल का अनुपालन करते हुए जल्द ही देश भर के साथियों को एक प्लेटफोर्म पर लाते हुए बक्स्वाहा समेत सभी जंगलों के संरक्षण के लिए एक व्यापक मुहीम छेड़ी जायेगी, अभियान से जुड़े तमाम साथी इस सघन वन को बचाने के लिए कृतसंकल्पित हैं. फिलहाल, कुल 15 राज्यों के (मध्य प्रदेश, उत्तर प्रदेश, उत्तराखंड, झारखंड, ओडिशा, बिहार, नई दिल्ली, पश्चिम बंगाल, राजस्थान, हरियाणा, कर्णाटक, पंजाब, तेलगांना, छत्तीसगढ़, असाम) 19 केंद्रीय विश्वविद्यालय, 5 आईआईटी समेत 96 राज्य विश्वविद्यालय और डिग्री कॉलेज का समर्थन मिला है।

On the World Environment Day, the Climate Agenda has consolidated a national level support to save Buxwaha forest, located in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. A letter was drafted by the organization has received wide support from 96 Universities spread across 15 states of India. Students as well as teachers of these Universities have signed the letter which is written to the Ministry of Environment and Forest of the Government of India and the state Government of Madhya Pradesh. Along with this, a total of 54000 tweets happened on the issue to help save Buxwaha forest.

It should be informed here that the Buxwaha forest of Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh is a dense forest and it is allocated to the Birla Group to extract diamond lying beneath the forest. The Census of trees done by the Government says that almost 2.15 lakh trees are proposed to be cut down, if the diamond mining project is allowed. A total of 383 Hectare land is sold to the Birla Group and it has sparked a nationwide protest across India. The project is supposed to drain at least 1.60 Crore litre of water every day, which will have severe impact on the Bundelkhand region, an already a drought hit area for years.

Informing about the next steps of the campaign, Ekta Shekhar from the Climate Agenda said; The campaign will not be limited to Buxwaha forest, instead it will extend its support to all the campaigns to safeguard India’s forest cover. Once the covid protocols are over, the next strategy will be formed with a wider consultation across the states. It is to be clarified here that the climate Agenda and its team is committed towards conserving India’s climate.

So far, the support has been received from 15 states which include Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Orissa, Bihar, New Delhi, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Haryana, Karnatak, Punjab, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Assam. Universities include 19 central Universities, 5 IITs, and other state-run Universities.
