गृह मंत्रालय द्वारा लखनऊ स्थित एक्टिविस्ट डॉ नूतन ठाकुर को दी गयी सूचना के अनुसार वर्तमान समय में 66 आईपीएस अफसरों के खिलाफ आपराधिक मुकदमे लंबित हैं. इनमे सर्वाधिक मुकदमे राजस्थान के 13 आईपीएस अफसरों के खिलाफ हैं जबकि तमिलनाडु के 08 तथा गुजरात के 07 आईपीएस अफसरों के खिलाफ भी आपराधिक मुकदमे लंबित हैं. यूटी कैडर के 04 तथा मणिपुर त्रिपुरा जैसे छोटे राज्यों के भी 04 आईपीएस अफसरों के खिलाफ मुकदमे लंबित हैं.
छत्तीसगढ़, झारखण्ड, महाराष्ट्र, उत्तराखंड तथा तेलंगाना राज्य के किसी आईपीएस अफसर के खिलाफ कोई मुक़दमा नहीं है जबकि आन्ध्र प्रदेश, बिहार, जम्मू कश्मीर, कर्नाटक, सिक्किम तथा उत्तर प्रदेश के 01-01 आईपीएस अफसर के खिलाफ मुक़दमा लंबित है.
8 वर्ष में 166 आईपीएस अफसरों पर विभागीय कार्यवाही
गृह मंत्रालय ने डॉ नूतन ठाकुर को बताया है कि एक जनवरी 2010 से अब तक 08 वर्षों में 166 आईपीएस अफसरों के खिलाफ विभागीय कार्यवाही की गयी हैं. इनमें सर्वाधिक 29 आईपीएस अफसरों के खिलाफ वर्ष 2013 में विभागीय कार्यवाही की गयी जबकि वर्ष 2014 में 26 तथा 2017 में 22 आईपीएस अफसरों के खिलाफ कार्यवाही हुई.
वर्ष 2015 तथा 2016 में प्रत्येक वर्ष 19 अफसर तथा 2012 में 18 आईपीएस अफसरों के खिलाफ कार्यवाही हुई. इसके विपरीत वर्ष 2010 तथा 2011 में मात्र 13 तथा 14 अफसरों के खिलाफ कार्यवाही हुई. वर्ष 2018 में अब तक 06 अफसरों के खिलाफ कार्यवाही की गयी है. हाल के एक निर्णय में केंद्रीय सूचना आयुक्त यशोवर्धन आजाद ने गृह मंत्रालय को नूतन को यह सूचना देने के आदेश दिए थे.
Criminal cases on 66 IPS officers in India
As per the information provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to Lucknow based activist Dr Nutan Takur, presently there are 66 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in India against whom criminal cases are pending.
In Rajasthan there are 13 IPS officers against whom criminal cases are pending, which is the highest number in any State. This is followed by criminal cases against 8 IPS officers in Tamil Nadu and 7 IPS officers in Gujarat. 04 IPS officers of Union Territory cadre and 04 IPS officers from the small states of Manipur and Tripura also have criminal cases against them.
There are no criminal cases pending against any IPS officer from Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Telangana and Uttarakhand. Criminal cases are pending against 01 IPS officer each from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Sikkim and Uttar Pradesh.
Dept action on 166 IPS officers in last 08 years
As per the information provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to Lucknow based activist Dr Nutan Takur, departmental action has been taken against 166 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in India during the last 08 years, since 01 January 2010.
Of these 29 IPS officers were acted against during 2013, followed by 26 officers in 2014 and 22 in 2017. Action was taken against 19 IPS officers each during 2015 and 2016 and against 18 officers in 2012. In contrast action against only 13 and 14 IPS officers was in years 2010 and 2011. So far in 2018, action against 06 IPS officers has been taken. In a recent decision, Central Information Commissioner Yashovardhan Azad (CIC) has directed MHA to provide this data to Nutan.
