हैदराबाद : पीटीआई में छंटनी की भारतीय पत्रकार संघ ने की कड़ी निंदा। भारतीय पत्रकार संघ (आईजेयू) और श्रमजीवी पत्रकारों के अधिकतर संगठनों ने समाचार एजेंसी प्रेस ट्रस्ट ऑफ इंडिया (पीटीआई) प्रबंधन द्वारा शनिवार को देशभर में की गयी 297 कर्मचारियों की मनमानी और अवैध छंटनी की कड़ी निंदा की है।

आईजेयू के अध्यक्ष एस एन सिन्हा और महासचिव डी अमर ने सोमवार को जारी बयान में कहा कि देश की प्रमुख समाचार एजेंसी में स्थायी कर्मचारियों की इतने बड़े पैमाने पर छंटनी न केवल चौंकाने वाली घटना है अपितु अत्यन्त गंभीर और अस्वीकार्य है।

छंटनी से भी अधिक तकलीफदेह प्रबंधन का छंटनी का तरीका रहा। प्रबंधन ने इस आदेश को तुरंत प्रभाव से मानने का नोटिस दिया और छंटनी पत्र कर्मचारियों की डेस्क पर लगा दिया। इसके अलावा इस आदेश को वेबसाइट पर भी डाल दिया गया। प्रबंधन का छंटनी के लिए अपनाया गया तरीका अनैतिक है और ऐसा पहले कभी देखा-सुना नहीं गया।

आईजेयू नेतृत्व को इस बात की भी चिंता है कि प्रबंधन ने विशेष रूप से वेतन बोर्ड के अधीन कार्यरत नियमित कर्मचारियों की छंटनी की। इससे न केवल मीडिया के कर्मचारी संघ का आंदोलन को कमजोर किया जाएगा बल्कि इसके बदले ठेके पर काम करने वाले कर्मचारियों को भर्ती किया जाएगा ताकि प्रबंधन मनमर्जी से नियु्क्ति करने और पदच्युत करने की नीति को बेरोकटोक लागू कर सके। इससे कानून में निहित नौकरी सुरक्षा को नुकसान पहुंचेगा।

आईजेयू ने एजेंसी प्रंबधन के इस निर्णय के संबंध में कहा कि कर्मचारियों की यह छंटनी समाचार पत्र ‘द हिन्दू’ के पूर्व संपादक एन. रवि के पीटीआई निदेशक मंडल का अध्यक्ष का पदभार संभालने के तुरंत बाद (उसी दिन) की गयी। प्रबंधन द्वारा अपने इस अवैध आदेश और एकपक्षीय तथा स्वेच्छाचारी कार्रवार्ई के पीछे कोई कारण न देना भी चिंता का विषय है।

IFWJ and DUWJ Condemn Employees’ Bloodshed in PTI

Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ) and Delhi Union of Working Journalists (IFWJ) have demanded the Union Labour Ministry and Government of NCT of Delhi to immediately intervene in the large scale termination of the employees in the premiere news agency, PTI without following the due process of law. This bloodshed spree of the management of the PTI has taken the jobs of 310 employees in one day across the country.

Condemning the unprecedented victimisation of the employees by the PTI management the Vice-President Hemant Tiwari, Secretary General of the IFWJ Parmanand Pandey and the President of the DUWJ Alkshendra Singh Negi have said if the management failed to take back the employees a large scale movement will be launched throughout the country against the highhandedness of the Management. They have also asked the Government of India and the Government of NCT of Delhi to take suo motu cognizance of the arbitrary action of the PTI management to save more than 300 employees and their families from the starvation and suicide.

What is most shocking is that the PTI has been getting a considerable support and subsidy from the Government of India and yet its management has the scant respect for the labour laws. This action of the management demonstrates that it hardly bothers about the rights of the employees as are available to them under the laws of the land. The PTI has also defaulted in properly implementing the recommendations of the Majithia Wage Board but this action of the management has come as a bolt from the blue as no prior permission was obtained from the appropriate government. The IFWJ and the DUWJ have also asked the management to see the reason and take back all employees to avoid the industrial unrest in the organisation.

The Brihanmumbai Union of Journalists strongly condemns the illegal retrenchment of more than 250 PTI employees all over India today.

This unprovoked assault on its employees by the PTI management is part of the undeclared emergency that has been imposed in the print media and news agency world ever since the Majithia Award was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2014.

There have been a spate of sackings and transfers , leading to the build up of an general climate of fear at the workplace. The PTI retrenchments are also a retaliation to the poor response of employees to a VRS recently offered by the company.

The BUJ pledges to stand in solidarity with the Federation of PTI Employee’s Unions in its struggle against the PTI management’s tyranny.
