Reyazul Haque : In simple Hindi: Raman Raghav 2.0 is quite a failure. It is a bad movie. It doesn’t realizes that if you take reason out from the violence, you will only end up reconciling with the understanding that normalises it. Especially in a case where you are dealing with violence perpetrated both by state and non state actors. Proposing the ‘feel to kill’ as a sole motive force for the murders renders it as mindless, and makes unrecognisable the dynamics, power relations and interests in the structure of violence of bodies representing the state. State is not a mindless body, and to think that it works mindlessly is insisting to stay blissfully ignorant.
Even in the case of an individual, such complexity cannot, and must not, be ruled out. In every case, violence has a history and a reason. Without it, one cannot even feel the presence of the violence and therefore cannot maintain records and confess. So, RR2.0 takes a nosedive. But one thing film does remarkably: it takes on how schezophrenic our society has been fashioned that it does not expect someone to speak truth and believes in, even demand, the falsity.

Pujita : Rezayul much that i agree with the conclusion that the film is a nosedive – i have one disagreement. Which is that while the two are not exactly mirror images of each other, (considering their position within social networks), it is actually quite close to the cogito-madness debates (the famous Descartes-Foucault-Derrida debate) in that madness is engraved within cogito, but closer to the film is that violence is sovereign and inexplicable. Reason and knowledge is itself violence.
Reyazul Haque : Yes Pujita. Violence is sovereign and inexplicable, but then how we will take those two (in fact three) women being subjected to it. Why they cannot do enough violence against Raman or the cop? There is a structure of sovereignty too, I think, that gives it a shape and scope (space?). Without it violence will become intangible and unrecognisable (even it is engraved in cogito). No?
