आईआईएम अहमदाबाद के पूर्व प्रोफेसर जगदीप एस छोकर और भारत सरकार के पूर्व सचिव सरमा ने चुनाव आयुक्तों को एक पत्र लिखकर आदर्श आचार संहिता के उल्लंघन को लेकर कार्रवाई की मांग की है. पूरा मसला मौजूदा पीए नरेंद्र मोदी का एएनआई पर प्रसारित इंटरव्यू का है.
इंटरव्यू को हाइपरलिंक करते हुए पत्र में मोदी द्वारा राम मंदिर और सनातन धर्म का जिक्र किया गया है. इंटरव्यू को अन्य राजनीतिक दलों के विचारों की व्याख्या के लिए गलत बताया गया है. साथ ही इससे मतदाताओं की भावनाओं को ठेस पहुंचाने की बात कही गई है.
NewsClick की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, जगदीप छोकर और सरमा ने चुनावी बॉन्ड योजना की तथाकथित पारदर्शिता पर पीएम के दावे का जिक्र करते हुए कहा कि, हाल ही में सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने असंवैधानिक ठहराया था. कहा कि- यह मतदाताओं को गुमराह करने जैसा है.
पत्र में एएनआई के इंटरव्यू का लिंक भी डाला गया है. पत्र में आरोप लगाया गया है कि सत्ता दल द्वारा मीडिया पर अपने प्रभाव का फायदा उठाकर अनुचित लाभ लिया जा रहा है. कहा गया कि, यह कई योजनाओं को मतदाताओं तक पहुंचाने के लिए एक मीडिया चैनल का मुफ्त में दुरुपयोग करने जैसा है.

We refer to an interview given by the Prime Minister to the ANI news agency recently, which can be accessed at https://youtu.be/0XLctFnrXTE?si=wMHs2q-5nIOOX4p9.
We feel that the interview prima facie violates the requirements of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) as follows.
The portions of the PM’s interview relating to references to Ayodhya and Sanatana Dharma, based on misrepresentation of the views of other political parties, amount to appealing to the religious sentiments of voters to vote for the ruling political party to the disadvantage of other parties.
The PM’s assertion on the so-called “transparency” of the Electoral Bonds scheme, recently held to be illegal by the apex court, is factually incorrect, having the effect of misleading voters.
The ANI interview, lasting more than 67 minutes, as a part of the electioneering campaign of the PM, amounts to the ruling party taking advantage of its sway over the media to gain an undue advantage vis-a-vis the other political parties to secure an electoral advantage over them. It also amounts to the ruling political party misusing a media channel free of cost to convey to the voters many schemes proposed to be introduced, such as a new scheme proposed for corporate political donations, which are not a part of BJP’s election manifesto
We request the Election Commission to initiate action against those concerned urgently.
