Gurdeep Singh Sappal : ये विरोध भी ‘एंटी नेशनल’ निकला। ज़रा कोई गिनती तो करे कि सरकार के हिसाब से अब कितनी यूनिवर्सिटीयों में ‘एंटी नेशनल’ पसरे हैं। अब सरकार है, सब जानती है। लेकिन ये तो बता दो सरकार कि पूरे देश में जो इतने देश-विरोधी आपने अब तक पहचान लिए हैं तो उनका आज तक आख़िर किया क्या है। क्या ‘एंटी नेशनल’ लोगों को सिर्फ़ लाठी चार्ज करके, टीवी पर गरिया के और बदनाम करके छोड़ दोगे? क्या देश के ख़िलाफ़ ग़द्दारी की बस इतनी सी सज़ा है? BHU में लड़कियों की माँग शायद सुरक्षा की थी। नारे भी ठीक ही थे। लेकिन फिर भी देश विरोधी निकले! अब तो सरकार एक लिस्ट जारी कर ही दो, कि देश में क्या क्या करना एंटी नेशनल है। वैसे भी आज ही के indian Express में ख़बर है कि गृह मंत्रालय ने पुलिस को लिखा है कि वह लोगों को कैशलेस लेनदेन करने के लिए बढ़ावा दें । तो एक नोटिस और भी निकाल दें कि क्या क्या माँग करना, क्या क्या नारे लगाना, कैसे कैसे विरोध प्रदर्शन देश विरोधी माने जाएँगे। बेचारे बच्चे और लोग अनजाने में तो ‘एंटी नेशनल’ न बन जाएँ।

Siddhant Mohan : आज रविवार के दिन बीएचयू में कर्फ्यू की स्थिति बनी हुई है. मैं तीन-चार लाठियां खाने के बाद थोड़ी दूरी पर बैठा हुआ हूं. सुना है कि अमर उजाला का कोई फोटोग्राफर भी लाठियां खाकर बैठा है. यह मीडिया पर भी हमला है, लेकिन मैं उन लड़कियों के लिए चिंतित हूं जो कल रात से लगातार फोन कर रही हैं. लड़कियों के हॉस्टल के गेट बाहर से बंद कर दिए गए हैं. कल रात की पिटाई में पुलिस ने छात्राओं के साथ-साथ किसी-किसी वार्डेन को भी पीट दिया. अब लड़कियों को कहा जा रहा है कि जिसको भी दुर्गापूजा की छुट्टी के लिए घर जाना है, आज ही निकल जाओ. ऐसे में कुछ लड़कियों-लड़कों ने हिम्मत की है निकलने की तो कैम्पस में मौजूद सीआरपीएफ और पीएसी के जवान पीटने लग रहे हैं. स्थिति गंभीर है. बीएचयू का आधिकारिक बयान कह रहा है कि “राष्ट्रविरोधी ताकतें राजनीति कर रही हैं”. शायद बलात्कार और यौन शोषण का विरोध करना राष्ट्रविरोध राजनीति है, ऐसा मुझे हाल के दिनों में पता चला है. बहुत सारे लोग बाहर से जुट रहे हैं. बहुत सारे लोग अंदर जुटना चाह रहे हैं तो कुलपति त्रिपाठी उन्हें पिटवा दे रहा है. कल रात का मुझसे किया गया वादा कि “भईया, हम लोग सुबह फिर से गेट पर बैठेंगे”, धीरे-धीरे टूट रहा है. अब एक नया संकल्प है कि छुट्टी के बाद फिर से आंदोलन करेंगे. हो सकता है कि ऐसा कुछ हो. लेकिन ऐसा नहीं भी हो सकता है. तीन अक्टूबर तक बहुत कुछ बदल जाएगा.
अपनी बेटियों, पत्नियों, प्रेमिकाओं से कहिए ज़रूर कि लड़कियां लड़ रही हैं. मैं भी कह ही रहा हूं. मैंने लिखने वाली नौकरी पकड़ी है, लेकिन इतना तो भीतर बचा है कि कभी भी इन लड़कियों के लिए खड़ा हुआ जाए. इस वादे पर नहीं टिका तो घंटा जिएंगे? इस कैम्पस के अंदर की प्रगतिशील आत्माएं मर गयी हैं. कोई अध्यापक गेट तक नहीं आया. एक साथ बीस अध्यापक भी गेट पर आ गए होते तो ये लड़कियां उन्हें जीवन भर के लिए अपना शिक्षक मानतीं. इन अध्यापकों का विश्वविद्यालय प्रशासन और राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ भी कुछ न कर पाता. ये एक बार और क्यों न लिखा जाए कि यहां कोई राजनीतिक दल या विचारधारा शामिल नहीं है. कई लोग जुट रहे हैं आज. कई लोगों को जुटना भी चाहिए. क्या होगा नहीं पता? लेकिन बदलाव लाने का एक तो उजाला अब दिखने लगा है.
BHU Update (English version) : After the lathi-charge on Saturday late night, the campus is put into a curfew like lock-down situation. Police also charged over a couple of media personnel, including me, but that is not the concern. The concern should be those girls who are constantly calling me by the whole night. Police had locked the gates of the girls’ hostels from outside. The hostel wardens have asked the girls to vacate the hostel by today until October 3, the prolonged Durgapooja holiday. After this new ‘suggestion’, few girls and boys came out from their hostel to head to their homes. But security forces like CRPF and PAC did not spare them. These students were beaten. Girls were abused. BHU’s official statement is that “anti-national forces are doing politics in BHU”, making me aware for the first time in my life that asking for the safety and standing against gender discrimination and sexual harassment is an anti-national politics.
Last night, police barged into the girls’ hostels and beaten students in there. Police stood on the girls who fell while escaping the lathi-charge and continued beating. They also beat the wardens of the Mahila Mahavidyalaya hostel, making the situation more grave. Guess what? without a single policewoman. Many people from outside are assembling in Varanasi today. Many people want to do many things. But this idiot vice-chancellor GC Tripathi do not want to provide them a dozen of CCTV cameras and few guards. He wants them to see beaten by police personnel. The girls promised me yesterday, “We will gather again at the university gate on the morning,” a promise which is fading slowly. Now they are saying that they will assemble again after the holidays, but I am not sure, many things will be altered and endorsed by then.
But here I am. Doing a job which requires me to write, but living like a human who does not want to be on side with rapists and criminals. Here I will be for long as if it is needed to be alive. I don’t need to say anything to girls now. They know how to deal with feudalism and radical setups. You guys! I expect all of you to go to you girls, daughters, wives, girlfriends, lovers and friends and tell them about this tale of such brave girls studying in Banaras Hindu University. The same girls, who refused to take any support from any political group; If teachers would have joined the movement, it would have been a milestone. But these progressive teachers went dead at the moment. If only 20 of them would have stood, the girls would have taken them as their teachers for life. No. No earthly power could have taken their jobs, no organization like RSS would have tampered or thrashed them. It is a worth taking risk, which will give fruits for a whole new generation. Many things are yet to happen, many things will happen. I am receiving calls for updates, I am giving out my soul to these girls. People are coming and more people must come. It is way towards a slightly bright democratic future.
