यूपी कैडर आईपीएस अफसर अमिताभ ठाकुर ने गृह मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार को दुबारा पत्र लिख कर अपना कैडर यूपी के बाहर किसी अन्य राज्य में किये जाने की मांग की है. अमिताभ ने मुलयम सिंह धमकी मामले के बाद से उन्हें नौकरी में कई प्रकार से प्रताड़ित किये जाने और कई अत्यंत ताकतवर लोगों द्वारा उन्हें जान को वास्तविक खतरा होने की बात कहते हुए 16 जून 2016 को गृह मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार को अपने कैडर परिवर्तन हेतु आवेदन उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार के माध्यम से भेजा था. उन्होंने 22 सितम्बर को इस सम्बन्ध में पुनः अनुरोध किया था.

गृह मंत्रालय ने उन्हें बताया था कि उनका आवेदन पर मंत्रालय में विचाराधीन है. अमिताभ ने अपने पत्र में कहा है कि जून से स्थिति लगातार बदतर हो रही है और उनके साथ शत्रुओं की तरह बर्ताव हो रहा है. उन्होंने कहा है कि इन स्थितियों में वे यूपी कैडर में बिलकुल काम नहीं कर सकते हैं और उन्होंने अपना कैडर बदलने अथवा किसी केंद्रीय सेवा में तैनात किये जाने की बात कही है.

UP Cadre IPS officer Amitabh Thakur has once again written to Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India for changing his Cadre from Uttar Pradesh to any other State. is under consideration before the Central government. Amitabh had sent this application on 16 June 2016 asking for Cadre change, alleging serious harassment in his service and threat to life, after the Mulayam Singh phone threat. He had again made a representation to the Central government on 22 September.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has told him that his application was under consideration before the Ministry. Amitabh has said in his letter that the situation is deteriorating every day and the State government officials are treating him as a sworn enemy. He said in the prevailing conditions, he cannot work anymore in UP and has sought Cadre change or appointment in some Central government service.
