Satyaprakash Gupta : Please do not communalize JNU Campus for the sake of saving alleged molesters. JNU Campus is in state of turmoil because of sexual harassment of a fellow girl by JNUSU President and Joint-Secretary. Student Community is raising a series of poignant questions before AISA , a student outfit of CPI(ML),regarding molestation and this has enlivened the case of late Khurshid Anwar who was not given a chance to prove himself clean.
CPI(ML) ‘s top ranking genuine feminist leader Kavita Krishnan and her fellow ideologues created such an unbearable situation through TV Channels and social sites against Khurshid. But JNU administration has put up this heinous case to varasity’s most popular legal organ GENDER SENSITISATION COMMITTEE AGAINST SEXUAL HARRASMENT(GSCASH).
JNUSU, JNUTA, STAFFS,AISA, SFI ,AISF, and other student political outfits and student community have been trusting in the verdict of GSCASH but all of a sudden, AISA and its political boss have communalized the issue by alleging that President and Joint-Secretary belong to minority community and that’s why, the case of molestation has been framed, plotted against its organization and opponents are making effort of maligning the image of AISA. This doubt may exist but let these two top office – bearers of JNUSU go through the proceedings of GENDER SENSITISATION COMMITTEE AGAINST SEXUAL HARRASMENT( GSCASH). Let them come out clean but do not doubt this committee and do not communalize the democratic and secular campus.
The student community and AISF councillor Rahila Khan have asked AISA and its supreme patron leader Kavita Krishnan as to why these two allegedly accused molesters should not die as Kavita remarked in case of late Khurshid Anwar who lodged a case of defamation with Police. Late Khurshid Anwar’s request these ultra-leftists for not tarnishing his prestige but they did not give him respite time to go through legal proceedings. Khurshid had been critical of hypocrisy of AISA and its patron like Kavita Krishnan and few more. His death by suicide was aggravated by a mental revenge of radical feminist comrade Kavita Krishnan. Is this a communist character of members of ultra –communist party ?
JNU campus is stunned as to how harbingers of revolution would commit such an undignified act against woman. A cyclone is blowing and uprooting the base of AISA. AISA is trying to save its face to make this sensitive issue communal. This is really an heinous and sordid happening and it has tattered the dignity of JNU and JNUSU too .
This new game of AISA has infuriated the students in the campus. The victim girl was an AISA member and at the time of sexual harassment, the victim was in AISA. Later on, she left organization when she did not get justice. She brought this case to the notice of campus .As a result, campus is agitating against AISA and alleged sexual offenders.
AISF leader and councillor RAHILA KHAN brought out pamphlet against the pseudo – secularism of AISA . Muslim students are also not happy with AISA ‘s new step of saving its office-bearers.
AISA keeps weakening the Left student organizations everywhere in India , claiming that it is a real frontrunner leftist revolutionary that will bring about radical change in Indian state. Student leader Chandrashekhar was in AISF. He joined AISA that has never mentioned in a book or in film on him that his political journey had begun from AISF and he joined CPI in Bihar. Chandrashekhar was a AISF leader in Bihar.
I had never paid any heed of confiscation of votes of minority community in the campus to make AISF win in Election of student union of JNU. I remember a case of barbarous assault upon Pro-vice Chancellor Professor Mushirul Hasan by Muslim fanatics in Jamia Milia University,New Delhi when he manifested his view on the ban of Salman Rushdee’s book SATANIC VERSUS . Professor Hasan was escorted to JNU Campus by secular, leftist and democratic students but all the left Student outfits and other student outfits kept mum over this issue except AISF. Because they did not want to lose three hundred minority votes. I brought out a pamphlet supporting professor Hasan that opponent had right to ask questions in stead of assaulting upon him. AISF lost its General Secretary post in forthcoming JNUSU election instead of losing its left and secular character. AISF opposed Puja( Prayer) celebrations at various places in the campus, that led to sense of regionalism and one month long healthy post-dinner discussion took place on religion and culture to shun down regionalism . During my time of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, I worked for the construction labourers whose wages were not paid to them by contractors in the campus and as an AISF member, I fought against them with the help of student community, AISF and SFI. But ultra-independent Left had never recognized my struggle against exploiters.
I have seen the mercurial role of AISA during Mandal agitation in the campus in particular and in country in general. This was a feudal feature of AISA that attracted anti-Mandalites of Left student outfits.
Now communalization of the gender harassment case has stunned me. I feel ashamed of being a left supporter. CPI(ML) General Secretory Dipankar Bhattacharya must take care of such sensitive issue, who has just participated into a centenary celebration of late comrade C.Rajeshwar Rao who fought against landlords of Telangana, freeing thousands of bonded labourers.Thousands of acre farming land were distributed to landlord. Comrade Dipankar addressed the huge gathering for formation of broader Left Front. But my question is how Left Unity or Broader left front will emerge if Left party or its mass organization will weaken to each other.
Khurshid will not come back but do not weaken left and democratic fervour of JNU Campus by infusing communal venom to protect alleged molesters.
