विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन की रिपोर्ट जारी, वायु प्रदूषण में उत्तर प्रदेश अव्वल, शीर्ष 20 शहरों में यू पी के 6 शहर शामिल, कानपुर अलाहाबाद लखनऊ आगरा भी लिस्ट में मौजूद, शीर्ष 20 में भारत के 15 शहर शामिल, देश भर में स्वास्थ्य आपातकाल के हालात
2 मई 2018 को जेनेवा स्थित विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन के कार्यालय से विश्व में वायु प्रदूषण के वर्त्तमान हालात पर एक व्यापक रिपोर्ट जारी की गयी. इस रिपोर्ट के आधार पर दुनिया के प्रदूषित शहरों का आंकड़ा जारी किया गया है. इस रिपोर्ट ने 2010 से 2016 तक तमाम शहरों में उपलब्ध पी एम् 2.5 के आंकड़ों की आधार पर एक विस्तरीत सूची बनायी गयी है, जिस के आधार पर विश्व के प्रदूषित शहरों की क्रमवार सूची तैयार की गयी है.
इस रिपोर्ट के विस्तार से अध्ययन के आधार पर क्लाइमेट एजेंडा की मुख्य अभियानकर्ता एकता शेखर का कहना है : “डब्ल्यू एच ओ की यह ताजा रपट भारत में वायु प्रदूषण का विस्तृत चित्रण करती है. 2010 से लेकर 2016 तक के आंकड़ों के आधार पर बनी इस रपट के मुताबिक़, वाराणसी दुनिया का छठा सबसे प्रदूषित शहर पाया गया है. इस लिस्ट में, शीर्ष 20 शहरों में उत्तर प्रदेश के कूल 6 शहर शामिल हैं. इनमे कानपुर, इलाहाबाद, लखनऊ, आगरा और फिरोजाबाद क्रमशः (विश्व में) दूसरे, चौथा, तेरहवां, पन्द्रहवां और बीसवें नंबर पर है.” उन्होंने आगे कहा कि “ दुनिया भर में होने वाली 70 लाख मौतों में ज्यादातर मौतें भारत के इन चुनिन्दा शहरों में हो रही हैं. ऐसे में, अब यह एक स्वास्थ्य आपातकाल की स्थिति बन चुकी है.” एकता शेखर ने कहा कि लम्बे समय से क्लाइमेट एजेंडा की यह मांग रही है कि देश के अन्दर वायु गुणवत्ता निगरानी तंत्र को पारदर्शी बनाया जाए, और राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर इस तंत्र का विस्तार किया जाए.
सौ प्रतिशत उत्तर प्रदेश अभियान व केयर 4 एयर की सचिवालय प्रभारी सानिया अनवर का कहना है : “विश्व के शीर्ष 20 प्रदूषित शहरों में उत्तर प्रदेश के 6 शहरों का शामिल होना क्लाइमेट एजेंडा द्वारा जारी रिपोर्ट एयर किल्स में दिए गए आंकड़ों की भयावहता को पुख्ता करता है. डब्ल्यू एच ओ की ताजा रिपोर्ट यह साबित करती है की दुनिया में उत्तर प्रदेश वायु प्रदूषण का एक बड़ा हब बन चुका है.” समाधान के बारे में सुझाव देते हुए सुश्री अनवर ने कहा “ कचरे का वैज्ञानिक निस्तारण, स्वच्छ ऊर्जा का अधिकतम उपयोग और जीवाश्म इंधन आधारित उद्योग धंधों को समयबद्ध तरीके से बंद करना ही भारत को स्वच्छ बना सकता है.”
इस बारे में, पर्यावरण कार्यकर्ता श्री सुनील दहिया ने कहा: “ भारत में हालात इस रिपोर्ट में दर्शाए गए आंकड़ों से ज्यादा खराब हैं. केंद्र सरकार द्वारा प्रस्तावित नेशनल क्लीन एयर एक्शन प्लान में लक्ष्य तो बड़े बड़े रखे गएँ हैं, लेकिन उन्हें हासिल करने के लिए कोई भी ध्होस कार्ययोजना नहीं बनाई गयी है, यह एक चिंताजनक तथ्य है.”
Varanasi ranks sixth in most polluted cities in the world
WHO releases its report on Air Pollution, Uttar Pradesh found to be most polluted worldwide! 6 Cities from UP among top 20 polluted cities globally, Says WHO Report, 15 cities from India among top 20 polluted ones globally, claims report
World Health Organization released its much awaited global report on present status of the air pollution today from its Geneva headquarter. The report comprehensively talks about the level of pollution in different parts of the world. It is based on the PM 2.5 data from 2010 to 2016, available in all such cities and have compiled in a table which clearly mentions cities from the top most polluted to the least ones.
On the basis of this report, Lead Campaigner of the Climate Agenda, Ms Ekta Shekhar says: This WHO report on air pollution gives a detailed picture of the Air Pollution in India. Based on 2010 to 2016 data, this report finds Varanasi as the 6th most polluted city in the world. The report has mentioned 6 cities from Uttar Pradesh among the 20 most polluted ones while there are 15 Indian cities enlisted among top 20 ones. Along with Varanasi, the other cities from UP include Kanpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Agra and Firozabad, which ranked 2nd, 4th, 15th and 20th in the list.” “The report claims that 7 million deaths occur worldwide and South east Asia and India have the largest number of victims worldwide. This is Clearly a case of National Health Emergency which needs to be tackled with utmost seriousness” Ms shekhar added. She reiterated The Climate Agenda’s long time demand to expand the Continuous air quality monitoring system throughout the country.
Ms Saniya Anwar, who runs the Secretariat for 100 % UP Campaign and Care4Air, said: “WHO report has included 6 cities from UP among the world’s 20 most polluted cities. It confirms the horrifying data shared byAir Kills; a report by The Climate Agenda on UP’s air quality.” Indicating the probable reasons and sollutions, she said “ Fossil fuel based industries, power plants and transportation, bumpy and dusty roads, garbage burning are the major sources of air pollution and we need to adopt clean energy for all needs as well as scientific disposal of waste in UP may lead us to a cleaner future.”
Issuing a statement, Sunil Dahiya from Greenpeace said: “WHO report clearly underplays the situation by mixing up data from many years. In reality, the situation in India is much worse. It is imperative that NCAP has clear targets for pollution reduction and interim milestones.”
